Developing your courage-building skills so you can coach with courage and vulnerability.

In November 2019, I travelled to Texas to train with Dr Brené Brown to become a Certified Facilitator for her Dare to Lead Programme. It is fair to say that it was a transformative learning experience for me, as a coach, as a human being and as a leader.

What I have learnt from the programme as a coach and as a human being:

  • Coaching is one of the most vulnerable things we can do

  • Recognising how I armour-up and then practising stripping back that armour enables me to be a better coach

  • Vulnerability is hard and uncomfortable, but you can’t get to courage without rumbling with vulnerability

  • To do this work with others, I must first do the work myself

  • Who I am is how I coach – self-awareness and self-love matter!

The Programme

The programme will cover the four courage-building skillsets of:

  • Rumbling with Vulnerability: Facing risk, uncertainty and emotional exposure with courage and clarity.

  • Living into our values: Identifying, operationalising and practicing the beliefs that we hold most important.

  • BRAVING Trust: Creating or deepening connections in relationships and teams based on the seven elements of trust.

  • Learning to Rise: Learning and growing from the failures, setbacks and disappointments that are inevitable when we are brave with our lives.

The programme includes 12 group sessions

Each session will run over Zoom from 9.30am-11.30am. This will be a small group to enable us to dig deep into the skillsets and engage in deeper dialogue around the application of this learning to our work as coaches.

The programme includes facilitation, self-reflection, practical activities, dialogue and short videos hosted by Brené.

In between sessions there will be additional materials provided to support and embed your learning.

Brené Brown uses the metaphor of the arena

An arena is anywhere in our lives where we are called upon to be brave and face our critics. During this programme you will have the opportunity to explore your own call to courage as a coach and the arenas you face. We will gather the resources you will need to enter those arenas with courage. Understanding these arenas will help you be braver in your life and at the same time give you a new way of exploring the arenas of your clients.

What People Say

"This was a rich learning experience for me on my journey as a curious individual who seeks to unlock my true self, and help others do the same. As an experienced coach, the content was both reassuring and new. Brené's work is powerful and absolutely necessary in today's world. This programme is an excellent way of exploring her work and integrating it into one's own practice."
